The script called for rain

dress (worn as top): ModCloth | cardigan, shoes: Forever 21 | belt: thrifted | skirt: Francesca's Collections | tights: GAP | umbrella: vintage

I had such great plans for this outfit. The weather would be perfectly warm, slightly breezy, with more than a hint of spring in the air - and it would be sunny. As you can see, mother nature had other plans...absolutely every time I had to be outside, it was not just raining, but pouring. And my shoes were completely inappropriate for the weather (cut-outs all over!) But of course, I was just crazy enough to try and make it work!

In the end, I'm glad it rained. I think it's the rainy days that need bright colors moreso than the sunny ones.

This skirt is one of my new favorite pieces of clothing, I think. I bought it last week when I had a day off from work. Unfortunately, for my day off, I picked the coldest day in recent weeks (I woke up to a covering of snow everywhere, which seems hard to believe right now). But despite the cold, I had a perfect day. Chris and I share an interest in food and nutrition, so we visited a local health food store, which was expensive but delightful. We spent a long time just wandering the aisles, looking at all the tea and spices and  unusual grains and things we'd never heard of. I think I could've spent days (and a small fortune) there.

After running some other errands, we went out to the mall to see a movie. I don't really like malls, but we had some time to kill before the showtime, so I ended up buying this skirt and a yellow dress (how unlike me!) Anyway, we saw The Artist and it's definitely one of my new favorites. Not surprising, since I adore the 1920's, but it was sincerely well done and very moving.

How wonderful it is to have a day off. I wish those days weren't so few and far between! How would you spend a perfect day off?

photos by Chris - and didn't that last one turn out awesome? That's what happens when you take photos in the pouring rain!

  5. That umbrella would make almost any day a bright and happy one, wouldn't it? I had similar plans of sunshine for this past weekends outfits... but that didn't happen at all either. I guess blogs have to reflect reality once in a while though!
