dress: vintage | cardigan & belt: thrifted | shoes: Francesca's Collections
This outfit was borne out of one of those lovely moments when you see two pieces hanging next to each other in your closet and wonder, "why have I never worn these together before?" Maybe it's because I thought on some level that they would be too matchy-matchy, or maybe the combination honestly never crossed my mind...but either way, I love them together. And anyway, any over-matchiness (wow, can you tell I studied creative writing?) is offset by the complementary orange-brown of the shoes, belt, and even my hair. It's a new favorite outfit, and one that I'm sure I'll be returning to often.
Oddly, though this outfit came together almost without thinking about it, I've been having much more trouble with colors in my design work. Any kind of creative block is beyond frustrating, whether it be writing, art, or design...so I'm hoping I snap out of it soon. I've got a steady stream of inspiration going, but it's possible that that's paralyzing me even further, you know? Regardless, I think I'm going to try to spend some time outside this weekend. Spend too much time inside at a desk, and you're going to need to get your batteries recharged sooner or later.
On another note, the sun has me feeling optimistic, so I'm labeling this post "spring." Let's hope it sticks around!
What a great look! I'm in love with those wedges.

I get sucked into "matchy-matchy"ness too, so don't even worry about it! I think the colors are lovely. Blue and orange/brown is one of my favorite color combinations. :) I hope you enjoy your weekend! Go play in the sun!

So many of my outfits are born out of items just happening to be next to one another and me going, "hey those could look good together!" I really really love your plaid dress and how perfectly your cardigan pairs with it. Your sunglasses are pretty fantastic too!

I love when that happens - these things just do go together like peas in a pot. I hate getting creative blocks - I definitely have had that. I had a time where I was drawing women's bags and kept thinking everyone looked like a monster face. Hlaf my drawings had teeth
