A splash of saffron

dress: Charlotte Russe | cardigan: H&M | lady tie: Flapper Girl | belt: vintage | tights & shoes: Target

First of all, thank you to all those who took time to read and/or comment on my last post. I know it was nothing like what I normally post, but the subject is very important to me.

I've been thinking a lot about my goals for this blog: what should I do with this tiny little bit of the internet I've carved out for myself? I started to make a list of what I wanted to accomplish here, and somewhat to my surprise, the first thing that popped into my head was "be a force for good." I'm not sure exactly what form that will take, but I'm excited at the prospect. I'm going to do some more thinking and planning on that front over the next couple of weeks. One thing I've thought of is accepting sponsors, and then donating a percentage of the proceeds to a charity. What do you think? How can bloggers have some kind of positive impact?

This has nothing to do with being a force for good, but one small thing I've changed around here so far is finally installing Disqus for comments. It's something I've been meaning to do for a long time, but I thought the process would be tedious and wrought with messy coding. Much to my surprise, the whole process took approximately two minutes! I wish I had done it a whole lot sooner. I've always been a little bit frustrated with Blogger's stunted ability to foster conversations. What's the point of blogging, after all, if you can't meet new people and talk with people from all over the world?

I hope you're having a wonderful week!

p.s. - Just in case you missed it, I did a guest post for Daria last week while she was in Paris. I'll give you a clue: it's something delicious...

  1. Donating a percentage of the money made from sponsorships is a fantastic idea! That is an incredibly giving of you, and I'm sure that would inspire other bloggers to do the same - myself included! If I ever begin to get sponsors, I already know who I would donate too. Great post!

  5. I used to use Disqus - but I had tons of issues with it not posting people's comments and then eventually, realizing it was giving people captchas half the time. I loved it though and miss it, I just wish the kinks I had could be worked out.

And I LOVE this dress. Acorn print?!?! Yes! And The cardigan - how you buttoned and belted it? I'm loving that too.

  6. This outfit is adorable! I especially love that the mustard tights and the fact that they are ribbed! I'm going to have to go back and read your last entry to catch up! I think the donating sponsorship money is a wonderful idea. It's inspiring to think about making one's blog making a positive impact on others, rather than it being a hub for self-indulgence (which is what I'm afraid of mine turning into). Being a force for good is a great thought that will stick with me!

  7. I think accepting sponsorships is a great start! Not only will it give your readers the opportunity to be introduced to new products (or services?) but you deserve a little reward for all your hard work in addition to helping a charity. This is a really wonderful idea.
Also, your hair in incredible and I can't imagine being able to pull that off myself ha.

  8. I installed Disqus for the same reason! I like being able to reply to people's comments in an efficient way. And dude that's really cool that you're thinking of accepting sponsors and donating to charity. Very admirable. Also YOU LOOK SUPER CUTE OKAY I hate you for being the cutest, now stop.

  11. Hi Laura, I'm so sorry you had to see that last post. It was actually an email sent to me by a friend & I was saving it in Blogger. I did not write one word of that post. I'm very sorry for the confusion. I would never write something like that.

  12. I've been thinking about installing Disqus too. I'd like to be able to quickly reply to questions. Maybe soon!
Cute layering in this outfit! I love the color of your tights and the pop of color they add to the whole outfit. Your little tie is adorable too!
