I can hardly think of a more apt description of my life than the title of the Radiohead song that is lending its name to this post. A month ago, I wouldn't have believed that I could be this content, but now I've got the job of my dreams, my little sister just got engaged to a wonderful guy, I've got a new niece on the way, and opportunities are opening up everywhere. Perhaps it makes for boring blog entries, but I'm really quite excited for both the present and the future.
I've come across some criticism of bloggers that are too cheerful, too happy about their lives. In a way, I understand; it can come across as insincere or some form of bragging: look how perfect my life is! I get that. No one wants to read something that sounds too fake. (I know I don't, at least!) But on the other hand, I don't think there is anything wrong with celebrating the good times...and for me, this is one of them. So I'm going to keep on being joyful - remembering all the while, of course, not to pass up on chances to grow and challenge myself.
But joy can never be full unless it's shared. So, tell me, lovelies - what's good in your life right now?
I saw the thumbnail of this post in my feed and I got so excited. You look darling! And I'm so glad that you are joyful - I think everyone should share their joy with others too.
ReplyDeleteBut anyway, I think this outfit is superb and I hope you are having a fantastic Monday!

I'm so happy that things are falling into place in your life! I agree, there are some bloggers out there who come off as fake -- and that can be annoying -- but being genuine and celebrating a good life is totally awesome, and you should do it with pride! P.S. you look adorable. x
ReplyDeleteThe dress is so sweet on you. I really like your hair in these shots too.
ReplyDeleteI agree about not wanting to read something that seems fake (I actually just touched on that in my post today) but I also agree that you should celebrate the happy times. No one likes to dwell, and especially be a part of someone's pity party. Posts about truly happy things (your family growing and job opportunities) make me happy! So I'm happy for you! And I love your amazing outfit, as always!

Great color palette—makes me want your hair color for better matching options <3

Sharing happiness is so so good! after all happiness is contagious! :)
ReplyDeleteI will be starting on my graphic design degree this MAY and i couldnt be any more excited.
Ahhh Laura, it makes me so happy to hear that these things are falling into place for you! <3 <3
ReplyDeleteThe whole blogger-cheerfulness is a topic I'm really on the fence about. Sounding like I'm bragging 24/7 is something I fear I sound like I'm doing too much, but at the same time, I'm not comfortable enough to burden others with my problems in such a public place, you know? :(
love this outfit, the cardigan looks so comfortable but lovely at the same time.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous dress!
ReplyDeleteIt doesn't bother me when fashion bloggers focus on the good stuff. I'd much rather see cheer than endless angst - the latter makes me uncomfortable, honestly. I'm not a very emotional person, and I don't particularly want to watch others air their baggage.
Such a beautiful dress. I adore your make up and hair as well!
ReplyDeletethat color combo is fantastic on you Laura...like it was made just especially for your own tones. incredibly beautiful!!! i adore your enthusiasm for life, it's infectious and all kinds of awesome. your spirit is uplifting and i'm sure meeting you in person would be an absolute pleasure too. happiness about all the goodness going on, many blessings for continued smiles from a fellow lover of "cheer"leading!! ♥
ReplyDeleteI'm glad to hear things are going really well in your life! I enjoy when other people are happy!
ReplyDeleteIt apparently too me a while to get to this post, but I love your striped dress! It looks so pretty with your red hair. Those orange tights look great with it too.
