I've been having such a hard time deciding whether or not I wanted to get bangs, it's kind of ridiculous. You'd think I was making some kind of life-or-death decision. But nope. It's just my hair, which, I need to remind myself, will grow out if I don't like how it looks.
At this point, I'm leaning towards having bangs, and one of the main reasons is because of this lady: Anna Karina. Anna was a Danish actress popular in the 1960's, who is most well-known for being the muse of French New Wave director Jean-Luc Godard. I'm ashamed to say I've never seen a single one of her movies, but every time I come across a photo of her, I'm absolutely smitten. In addition to having a wonderful 1960's wardrobe, her hair is always enviably perfect:
Will my bangs turn out as picture-perfect as Anna's? Well, that remains to be seen...but I am excited to see how they turn out this time around. I have had bangs before, but I think this time I'll go for a different look.
This time, I'm envisioning lots of 60's-style bouffants. I can't wait to experiment!
That's the thing though, it isn't "just" your hair, is it?. A haircut is such a big part of who you are, or at least how you want others to see you. I had the same thoughts on whether I should cut my hair short or not and after a year of thinking about it I just did it one day. I couldn't have made a better decision, I'm loving it. And even if it would have looked disastrous, it wouldn't have been for life. :)

They looked lovely on you before, I'm sure they'll be equally great in the new style. I've never seen any of her films either, but she was certainly a beauty!
ReplyDeleteI haven't seen her movies but she does have great hair. I love your orange dress.
ReplyDeleteI am ALL for the bangs. I have had bags since I was three or so (minus a horrible haircut in middle school), and I am so happy with them. They are a little 60s and classic as well. I love all of the pictures you selected :-)
ReplyDeleteI learned about her in my French film history class! She's so incredibly pretty. I love her hair too. I definitely think you can pull it off!
ReplyDeleteI think that I have the 'should I / shouldn't I' bangs conversation at least once a day. Sometimes even with a pair of scissors in my hands (which I force myself to put down and walk away from!). Oh bangs! xx Natalie
ReplyDeleteWhat lovely photos! I especially like the orange floral dress!
